First why times infinity
K has gone from her first why to “Why?” “But why? “But why?” for every answer I give- just as a proper toddler should do. Usually the questioning ends at the third or fourth “why” and generally has something to do with an answer similar to, “Because you’ll get hurt and will cry and be very sad.” Now if only I could get to that answer faster and have the interim answers still make sense. It’s interesting how any line of questioning comes back to K’s self as the center of the universe and how a dislike of sadness and crying may be the strongest motivator that K understands right now. From what I recall, all normal developmental traits. Too bad the answer, “Because your sister will get hurt and cry and be very sad” doesn’t work as an answer sometimes. Though trust me, I can get from the “Because your sister…” to the “Because you’ll be sad…” with no problem!

Oh I remember going through those days with my nephew. There was one funny incident in a WaWa. Everything I said was followed by a “Why?” I finally got tired and nicely said, “Can you not ask me anymore questions for five minutes?” His repsonse: “Why?” The whole store was laughing. I am dreading the ‘why’ days with my own son that are surely approaching sooner than I’d like.
