As I was driving home from the Dentist, yes for the 3rd time in under a week, I was listening to NPR which is basically all I listen to in the car when I am fortunate enough to be in a vehicle on my own. Out of all the things things in the universe they could have been talking about, it is just my luck that it would happen to be about reading- and I was only in the car for 20 minutes!

Web Sites Let Bibliophiles Share Books Virtually by Martha Woodroof included a listing of the approximately 40 or so book-centered social networking sites. Here are some the story shares: LibraryThing, Goodreads, Shelfari, aNobii and BookJetty. Here’s an even bigger list of similar sites from deeplinking.net. So off I went to see if any of these might be a good fit for me.

I now have an account and have started my “library” at LibraryThing.com This could get highly addictive. 1 hour and 33 books later and I have only scratched the surface. I’m so excited to get my entire library online (see my sidebar for the link!) Ah ha, something to keep my mind off the Kindle I don’t yet have. But also, something that takes me away from reading. I’m sure I’ll find a happy balance somewhere.
